Private data mode for Sandboxes enabled

Product_Update-PDMforsandboxes (1)

Private Data Mode (PDM) has been enabled for all sandboxes to ensure existing DTAP streets are secured by default. The data API will be restricted for users without builder permissions in these sandboxes.

Why this feature was enabled

Your sandbox environments are an important feature for ideating, testing, and iterating on your existing applications with new features or data sets without affecting the live version.

In order to ensure new data sets or features were secured across the board, Private Data Mode has been enabled for all Betty Blocks sandboxes.

This change prevents any users without the correct permissions from viewing or accessing environments that may not be ready for the target audience.

How will this impact you?

Private Data Mode (PDM) is a security feature which restricts access to your Data API in the runtime. When enabled, only users who are part of your organization and have builder permissions for a particular application can view the front-end.

PDM ensures any and all data is not accessible to external users which keeps your information secure during ideation and development phases.

This update only affects sandbox environments. If you do not have or use sandboxes currently then there will have been no changes for you.

Does your use case require PDM to be off?

If you would like to disable this feature, go to your sandbox settings (in My Betty Blocks) and under the 'Advanced' header switch the PDM toggle off.

We advise only disabling this feature where your use case specifically requires external users to access the sandbox without being invited to your Betty Blocks organization.

For example, getting tester and/or user feedback for a proof of concept or demonstration application. We still advise using sandboxes primarily as a DTAP street as this is the intended functionality.
