How to Optimize Your CRM Software using No-Code and an API

Customers are the fuel of your business, and unlike standardized fuel, customers are much more diverse. If you are not using a CRM system that fits your business objectives and can be adapted to your customers, you’re missing out on upcoming opportunities to make your enterprise thrive.

As an inherent tool for business, it’s important to know what kind of CRM system works best for your organization. Many CRM providers offer a comprehensive service, but with constantly diversifying demands and changing customers, the need to keep your CRM system updated with your customers is necessary. In turn, there may be tasks that you’d like to automate and features that would streamline your work which aren’t available with the software you’re using.

Our story...

At Betty Blocks, our US sales team had been trying a few different CRM software until experiencing one that fit the needs of the team most effectively. With the different advantages of each CRM tool, the decision was based on a comparison of which option lacked the least amount of features. One CRM software would provide multiple features that another did not natively support, but it would also lack key functionality that the other software would offer. Afterall, it is the case that among different offerings of the same digital tool, that one would lack a feature or functionality that another has, and vice versa.

Lacking features causes inefficient work

The sales team's CRM software was lacking one specific feature that made it impossible to run a report on a set of leads that shows how many emails or phone calls have been logged with each lead. There were only a few features to choose from and it did not have the ability to run basic reports for a specific group of contacts. The addition of this feature would enable the sales team to stay in better contact with each lead to ensure that they are properly led through the sales funnel.

New call-to-action

No-code and an open API provides a solution

However, the team’s current CRM system did provide an open API that enables developers to expand their workflow possibilities. With a no-code application development platform, it was possible to create an application that ran the task, now easily and efficiently. Our sales team built an application using Betty Blocks' own platform that served as a dashboard showing their activity (emails, calls, meetings and deals) on a group of leads from a certain event.

Traditionally, in order to accomplish this, the team would’ve had to use Java, PHP, Ruby, Python or another back-end programming language to securely connect and fetch the data from the CRM’s API. Then, they would need a database to store the data in (MySQL, NoSQL, Spreadsheet) and finally, they would need to know basic HTML/CSS/JS to display it in a web browser.

A better CRM is in your hands

No matter what feature you need, you can build an application to optimize your CRM software without code, easily, quickly and effectively. With Betty Blocks's no-code platform, none of the aforementioned programming languages are necessary if you want to build your own solution. Instead, you build through visual modelling. Using no-code, it’s also easy to integrate APIs with applications. The possibility and further ease of integration with this platform enabled the sales team to build an application on their own and connect it to their existing CRM. To show how fast building with Betty Blocks is, someone with experience with both Betty Blocks and APIs could build this application from scratch in about 20 minutes. Someone with limited experience in Betty Blocks and APIs could build this from scratch in about 2-3 hours.
