PRESS RELEASE: The Netherlands - 5 March 2018 - Betty Blocks, the leading no-code application development platform, today announced their new Vice President of Channel Sales, Aad van Schetsen. The company is rapidly growing internationally and aims to focus more on strategic growth. With the addition of this role, Betty Blocks will increase partnerships with international companies that support the development of no-code solutions. Van Schetsen will develop partnerships with distributors and resellers around the world to build the global Betty Blocks customer base and enable every and any organization to innovate.

With the lack of programmers, greater role of IT and the immediate demand for enterprise applications, it makes sense that the use of no-code is increasing globally. The sales of no-code development platforms are expected to grow by 68% to become a 15 billion dollar market by 2020, according to Forrester. Efficient and effective application development is a sought-after means globally and many companies that are ready for a no-code approach will experience its true benefit.

Over the past year, Betty Blocks has been forming multiple partnerships with organizations in the US, UK, Germany and Japan. These partnerships have been a result of a shared vision over the value of no-code. The increased awareness and adoption of Betty Blocks have helped the company grow to a record-breaking degree. Now, to further drive growth, the company’s vice president of channel sales will first focus on regions that have low barriers to entry into no-code development.

“We are rapidly expanding as a company and we want to focus on our international partnerships,” Betty Blocks CEO Chris Obdam said. “Aad will be a great addition to our team with his knowledge of the low-code market, which we are aiming to transform to the no-code market. I see the growth of the company increasing exponentially as we build more and better connections to organizations across the world.”

With nearly 30 years of experience in the application development market, Van Schetsen has been a leader in the movement of low-code technology. As the former CEO of Uniface, Van Schetsen spent 20 years driving the low-code application development business globally.

After looking at the current development landscape and encountering the rise of no-code development, Van Schetsen came across Betty Blocks. Coming from low-code, he was interested in the no-code concept and wanted to join the new movement in RAD. No-code platforms are taking application development to the next level, through even greater simplicity and increasing abstraction between the technology and human.

“Removing code from the development picture changes the process entirely, with extended benefits that low-code only begins to offer,” Van Schetsen said. “First of all, the role of the developer is broadened to include individuals with or without a technical background. Having more people enabled to build solutions gives organizations more possibilities for solutions. As the technology advances, it is logical to shift from low-code to no-code.”

Along with its advanced no-code technology, there were more aspects of Betty Blocks that brought Van Schetsen to the no-code side. The company culture convinced Van Schetsen of the bright outlook on the company’s future and plans for growth.

“What I found about Betty Blocks is that the organization is approachable and very likeable,” Van Schetsen said. “From my very first introduction to the company, I was intrigued by its openness, particularly as a PaaS company. Betty Blocks is not only creating a highly valuable product, but it is also a company with a very welcoming culture”

In addition to having an extensive background in application development, Van Schetsen gained a skill that cannot be learned from a manual but only experienced in person. As a global traveller, Van Schetsen has been to every continent except for Antarctica. He experienced the different cultures of countries to later be able to understand how each country conducts business.

“I’ve had more experience outside of the Netherlands than within,” Van Schetsen said. “Business in northern Europe is completely different from business in southern Europe. While this difference exists among countries in same the continent, business in Japan for example is even more different. Rather than closing a deal with a quick sales pitch, business in Japan is about establishing a relationship and building trust. This is a telltale that understanding culture in business is necessary and the intuition is needed to conduct international business.”

While Betty Blocks also recently took steps to optimize the security of the platform, international expansion is the next phase of the business that is receiving more focus and refinement. To learn more about becoming a Betty Blocks partner, visit the website here
