Private data mode for development apps

Written by Dusty Rowe | Mar 7, 2022 8:30:23 AM

Please be aware, on March 15th, Betty Blocks will enable Private Data Mode (PDM) for all applications currently set to the development status.

What is the impact of this change?

Private Data Mode being enabled will restrict Data API access in the runtime to any user without a registered Betty Blocks account and builder permissions for the application. Effectively, this will prevent users from viewing your application or its data if they have not been invited as a builder.

If any of your development applications are used in production (live) use cases – either customer-facing or internally – please set these applications to the live status as soon as possible to ensure they are not impacted.

Some examples of use cases include:

  • Proof of Concept (PoC) applications
  • Demonstration applications
  • Internal use applications such as employee portals

You do not need to take any action if

  • Your application is currently on the NL1 or US1 zones
  • You are using a trial version of Betty Blocks
  • Or your development applications are in the correct state

Check the following documentation for more information about how to set your application live, Private Data Mode, and how these settings affect your applications.
